About the role The National Clinical Education Director at the School of Health Sciences plays a pivotal role in coordinating, developing, and delivering the clinical education program across all disciplines. This position entails collaborating with faculty to ensure the highest standards of quality and authenticity throughout the program. The director will provide strategic leadership in the design, implementation, and continuous evaluation of the clinical education curriculum, while also partnering with student services to create an exceptional and streamlined student experience.In addition, the role involves actively engaging with external stakeholders and clinical partners to enhance educational capacity and drive innovation in clinical supervision. There are also opportunities to strengthen research initiatives within the School, particularly in the realm of clinical education. Reporting directly to the Head of the School of Health Sciences, the director will work closely with multidisciplinary academics across all campuses and cultivate relationships with key external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Program Coordination and DevelopmentLead the design, implementation, assessment and evaluation of the clinical education program across all disciplines within the School of Health Sciences.Ensure the curriculum aligns with current industry standards and accreditation requirements.Quality AssuranceEstablish and maintain quality assurance processes to evaluate the effectiveness of the clinical education program.Collaborate with faculty to ensure authenticity and relevance in all aspects of clinical training.Leadership and Strategic PlanningProvide visionary leadership and strategic oversight and direction in the continuous improvement of clinical education practices with a focus on fostering and delivery of interdisciplinary learning experiences.Provide leadership and management to the Clinical Education teams and programs within the School of Health Sciences.Develop strategic plans to enhance the School of Health Sciences clinical education program's capacity, reach, and impact.Student Experience EnhancementWork closely with student services to ensure a positive and efficient student experience throughout the clinical education journey.Implement feedback mechanisms to gather student insights and improve program delivery.Stakeholder EngagementCultivate strong relationships with external stakeholders, including clinical partners and healthcare organisations, to enhance collaborative opportunities and resources.Represent the School in professional networks and at relevant conferences to promote the clinical education program.Actively participate in departmental and faculty meetings along with playing a significant role in planning and committee work.Research DevelopmentFoster research initiatives related to clinical education, encouraging faculty and student involvement.Contribute to research through honours projects and relevant research in the field of Clinical Education.Seek funding opportunities and partnerships to support research projects and enhance educational outcomes.Training and SupportProvide training and resources for faculty and clinical supervisors to enhance their teaching and supervisory skills.Offer ongoing support to ensure effective clinical supervision and mentoring.Compliance and ReportingEnsure compliance and efficient implementation with university policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements for clinical education across the school.Prepare and present reports on program outcomes and effectiveness to university leadership and external stakeholders.Innovation in EducationExplore and implement innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance clinical education delivery.Identify and act on opportunities for innovation in Clinical Placements, including multi-disciplinary, rural, remote, and international initiatives.Stay informed about emerging trends in healthcare education and integrate relevant practices into the program.Collaboration with Multidisciplinary TeamsWork collaboratively with multidisciplinary faculty across all campuses to promote a cohesive educational approach.Facilitate interprofessional learning opportunities to enrich the clinical education experience.Comply with all other reasonable training and duties as identified by the line manager (or delegate).Comply with University policies and procedures in all aspects of their work and conduct. Qualifications, skills & experience Possession of doctoral qualification in an area of Health Sciences or equivalent accreditation and standing together with relevant experience.Significant professional clinical experience and relevant post graduate qualifications in Health Sciences.Current registration with AHPRA (or relevant discipline specific equivalent) with no notations and/or restrictions.Regard will be had to teaching experience, experience to qualification, experience in research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contributions and/or technical achievement in clinical supervision and education.Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision and educational material/curriculum development and delivery in a variety of formats, which could include entry-level, postgraduate or professional level education.Proven capacity to provide leadership in curriculum development and pedagogical innovation, particularly in relation to clinical supervision and education.Skilled communicator with in-depth ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders including Faculty Members, Healthcare Professionals, External Partners and students.Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise work tasks and capability to work collaboratively within a team environment.Strong organisations skills with highly developed attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities, as well as remaining flexible and effective during unexpected situations or changing conditions in a time pressure environment.Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
