The State Government of South Australia, CSIRO and the University of Adelaide's Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) are actively interested in advancing leading research and development of AI.

The new Responsible AI Research (RAIR) Centre will leverage AIML and CSIRO Data61's existing expertise to focus on the development of cross-cutting responsible AI research and address fundamental responsible AI problems at a sufficient scale for national and international impact.

We are seeking motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Fellows B to undertake fundamental machine learning research for projects aligned to one or more of the following themes:
Theme 1: Tackling misinformation, working on attribution and integrity for generative AI.
Theme 2: Safe AI in the Real world, working on foundational reasoning for tool use and physical interactions.
Theme 3: Diverse AI, working on AI systems for safety and diversity.
Theme 4: AI that can explain its actions working on causal AI for a changing world.
To be successful you will need:
A PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or other Machine Learning-related field.
Programming experience in Python, C++ or other relevant language and experience in deep neural networks.
Experience and demonstrable knowledge in deep learning and one or more of the following: transformer networks, implicit neural functions, graph neural networks and/or probabilistic graphical models; and causal inference.
An outstanding publication record in top tier machine learning and/or computer vision conferences or journals, commensurate with experience and opportunity.
A strong work ethic, and the ability to work well independently, and as a member of a broader team, including with industrial partners.
Fluency in written and spoken English, with an ability to communicate scientific ideas to an expert audience.
