Are you a strategic legal leader ready to drive governance, risk management, and innovation?
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Legal Services to provide leadership and strategic direction across core legal and corporate services functions. Reporting to the Chief Corporate & Community Officer, this role is critical in enhancing organisational performance, governance, and service delivery while mitigating risk.
About the Role
As the Head of Legal Services, you will:

Lead key corporate functions, including Procurement & Contracts, Legal Services, Records Management, and Governance and Risk. Develop, implement, and refine policies, procedures, templates, and innovations to improve organisational performance and service delivery. Provide critical legal guidance, aligning legal and business strategies to support organisational goals. Serve as a catalyst for innovation, a strategist for value creation, a guardian of legal and regulatory matters, and an operator optimising legal efficiency and effectiveness. Drive leadership, culture, strategy, and performance based on corporate values and direction. Build a high-performance culture that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. About You
To excel in this role, you will bring:
Bachelor of Law from an accredited tertiary institution. Tertiary qualifications in Business, Leadership, or a related field. Proven expertise in Governance and Risk Management. Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver complex programs and projects. Strategic thinker with extensive experience in policy formulation and high-level policy advice. Strong influencing, negotiation, and networking skills. Knowledge and experience working with government departments and navigating complex legal and regulatory environments. Excellent organisation and people skills, with corporate management expertise. Sound understanding of risk, audit, and compliance requirements in a local government context. Superior oral and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships internally and externally. Why Join Our Client?
