Tester - ConvertersThis position reports toProduction Manager - ConvertersYour role and responsibilitiesABB is establishing a new manufacturing facility in Maryborough, on the Fraser Coast of QLD to service the QTMP project. Establishing the Converters production stream is a vital step in setting this facility up for success. If you have Manufacturing experience, with the ability to direct and participate in the testing of traction and auxiliary converters, then you are encouraged to apply. Training will be given to the right candidate, allowing you to take ABB worldwide best practice and implement it locally. Reporting to the Production Manager Converters, this position will be based in the Fraser Coast of QLD, Australia. You will be mainly accountable for:Performing testing activities for the traction converters to ensure product quality and executing the assigned work according to agreed workflows and in accordance with ABB standard processes and electrical safety guidelines and reporting any non-compliance.Checking the completed test work for compliance with electrical schematics, technical, assembly, and design documentation, and supervising and delegating employees to work related to correcting test errors.Inspecting and troubleshooting any identified issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.Maintaining accurate testing records, data, and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and quality management systems and maintaining planning parameters in ERP and planning systems.Qualifications for the roleMinimum 2 years of experience in a test-related position within a Power Electronics Plant, including coordinating employee work.Proficient in utilizing computer software for operating test benches and possesses technical expertise in electrical and/or automation systems, including proficiency in reading electrical drawings.Strong manual and analytical skills for troubleshooting, creative problem-solving, and conducting thorough data analysis and reporting.Minimum qualifications include Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician and a valid Working Safely Certificate for High Voltage (up to 2kV).Effective teamwork skills with a proven ability to efficiently share knowledge within the team.Qualifications in operating cranes, jib cranes, platforms, and forklifts (preferred but not essential).
