To lead the QA testing team for a web-based talent management platform, ensuring the stability, reliability, and quality of both core products and client implementations. The role emphasizes developing and expanding automated testing capabilities while maintaining a robust manual testing strategy for comprehensive platform stability. As a hands-on and managerial role, you will contribute directly to testing activities and guide your team in achieving testing excellence.
This role is Australian based, ideally in Sydney. We offer flexible working options with an encouragement for being in the office 2 days per week.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership and ManagementLead and mentor a small team of Test Analysts based in Australia & India.Provide clear objectives, regular feedback, and professional development opportunities.Foster a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.Testing Strategy and ExecutionDesign and implement a strategic roadmap for automated testing, including tool selection and framework development.Oversee manual testing efforts to ensure the stability and quality of the platform during client implementations and updates.Balance priorities between core product testing and client project customizations.Collaborate with stakeholders to define testing objectives, scope, and success criteria.Automation DevelopmentEstablish and maintain an automated testing framework to streamline regression and functional testing.Provide hands-on development of automated test scripts and mentor the team in automation best practices.Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines for faster and more reliable releases.Release CoordinationSupport releases to multiple non-production and production environments, employing PVT / BVT methods to validate deployment successQuality Assurance and Issue ResolutionDevelop and enforce QA standards and best practices to ensure consistent quality.Oversee defect management processes, including tracking, prioritization, and resolution.Perform hands-on testing when required, particularly for critical or complex features.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with development, implementation, system and client teams to align QA activities with business objectives.Act as a primary point of contact for QA-related matters across geographies.Provide regular status updates and detailed QA reports to senior management and stakeholders.Candidate ProfileSkills and AbilitiesProven ability to lead and manage a geographically distributed testing team.Expertise in building and maintaining automated testing frameworks and tools (e.g. Selenium).Strong proficiency in manual testing techniques and processes.Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis.Exceptional communication and organizational skills.Comfortable balancing hands-on testing responsibilities with managerial duties.Experience and Knowledge5+ years in QA, with at least 2 years in a leadership/managerial role.Strong experience testing web-based platforms, preferably in talent management or HR systems.Demonstrated success in implementing automation tools and practices.Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integrating QA processes within them.Proficiency in SQL and experience testing relational databases.Desirable SkillsExposure to API testing tools such as Postman or RestAssured.Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.Familiarity with testing in cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).Understanding of security testing practices.
