Tenancy Support Case Worker - Identified position Job No:LARR00044 Location:Coconut Grove These are Affirmative Measures – First Nations applicants only positions. About the Tenancy Support Program improve The Larrakia Nation Tenancy Support Program (TSP) supports individuals and families living in Public Housing properties, who are struggling to sustain their tenancy and people who are at serious risk of homelessness or are already homeless. The program supports individuals and families across the Greater Darwin Region including urban Aboriginal Communities of Bagot, One Mile Dam, Knuckey's Lagoon and Palmerston Indigenous Village to sustain long term independent housing and improve their wellbeing, in living in the broader community.
Case management is delivered with a strength based, and family centred approach to support individuals and families who are either self-referred, other service referred, or referred by Territory Families, Housing and Communities. Service support is tailored to the induvial needs of the individual and family.
Benefits and perks Conditions of employment covered by the Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation Enterprise Agreement 2018. Salary range starting at $33.25 per hour. Option to salary package a maximum of $15,899 from your gross salary each year; 5 weeks pro rata annual leave per year; and a 35-hour week. Skills and experience OBJECTIVE: Learn how to provide the delivery of culturally appropriate client centred support to Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander individuals and families residing in the Greater Darwin region, Darwin and Palmerston Town Communities in order to build resilience, greater independence and wellbeing to enable them to remain safe and well in their houses.
As a TSP caseworker, you will be responsible for:
case planning and support including: assessment, coordination, monitoring and implementation of plans in a timely manner,ensuring client records are recorded in a timely manner; using the Specialist Homelessness Information Platform (SHIP),developing and maintaining effective relationships of collaboration and respect with other Larrakia Nation programs and staff and other key stakeholders in the interest of the clients and the program,being punctual, reliable and having a neat and tidy appearance,supporting the upskilling of individuals and families to better manage their tenancy and property responsibilities, take part in all stages of case management from referral to exit under the supervision of your supervisor,take responsibility for TSP equipment and assets including lawn mowers, other garden equipment, trailers, donations and work vehicles.Provide referrals to a range of relevant support services,Assist in the development and implementation of procedures and continuous quality improvement;Ensure client confidentiality and legally accountable practices at all times; Other position related duties as agreed in consultation with your supervisor; Maintain respect for Larrakia people and Larrakia country.Key Selection Criteria Experience in working with Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander people and communities, including the ability to develop rapport with clients and share knowledge and skills in a culturally appropriate manner.Knowledge of family services and other key community services and programs, especially those that have a focus on supporting Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander individuals and families; and an ability to work collaboratively with other service providers.Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully in a small team, to exercise initiative, demonstrate respectful communication skills, apply good time management and organisational skills.Understanding of cultural protocols, together with a willingness to work respectfully in accordance with Larrakia and other Indigenous cultureGood computer, literacy and numeracy skills, including ability to write case notes, referrals, e-mails and contribute to regular reports. A commitment to participate in relevant training to upgrade computer skills.NT Drivers Manual Licence (C Class) and confident to drive a manual vehicle, valid First Aid & CPR Certificate and Police and Working with Children Clearances.Identify as LarrakiaCertificate III in Community ServicesProven experience in case work and use of case management frameworkApplicants are required to undergo Drug and Alcohol testing if you are in the final selection as part of the recruitment process.
