Type of temporary opportunity: Temporary s26 Transfer Duration of opportunity: 18 months Working arrangement: Full Time Classification: APS 6 Contact Officer: Kristy Carey, (02) 6202 3593 Closing Date: 11:30 PM AEST Thursday, 26 September 2024 What you will do As an APS 6 Senior Policy Officer, you will provide advice and guidance to agencies on the APS Employment Framework through the Employment Policy advice line.
This includes interpreting legislative provisions and supporting agencies to understand their obligations and apply the APS Employment Principles.
The role also includes contributing to the project work of the team, developing guidance and factsheets, and undertaking a range of activities in support of the Commissioner's functions.
Skills and capabilities we need Our ideal candidate has: HR qualifications and/or experience An understanding of the APS Employment Framework (or willingness to learn) Sound written and verbal communication skills A passion for collaboration and is a team player who is flexible to shifting priorities.

This is a unique role for a HR professional as: it affords you the opportunity to work at a whole-of-system level, so you get a unique perspective on the entire APS rather than working as part of a HR function in a Corporate team, this position is part of the business itself – directly supporting the Australian Public Service Commissioner in fulfilling his employment-related statutory functions under the Public Service Act 1999 you get to be at the forefront of shaping policy for the whole of the Australian Public Service.
