About our opportunity This opportunity is available to current Australian Public Service employees and all eligible members of the community.
Non-ongoing or temporary employment opportunities may be offered on a full-time, part-time or intermittent/irregular (casual) basis depending on business needs and requirements.
Non-ongoing employment for a specified term may be offered for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility to extend for a further 6 months, for a total maximum period of 18 months.
About our team Regional Operations | West | Operations West
The ABF works collaboratively across the Home Affairs Portfolio and with domestic and international partners to identify, deter, disrupt, detect and manage border risks.
Irregular and Intermittent Employees (IIEs/Casual) are employed with the ABF at the APS2 classification and assist frontline operational teams to meet peaks associated with the movement of people and goods across the border. IIEs are predominantly required to work at international airports to alleviate pressure on existing teams during periods of increased flight departures and arrivals. They are also utilized to work in teams dealing with Maritime, Air Cargo as well as general administration areas. The work undertaken is mainly outside of standard business hours.
What you'll do Officers will:
Provide basic administration support under guidance Operate basic information technology systems Develop and maintain effective and productive working relationships/partnerships Work as part of a team. These roles are frontline roles which require officers to wear the ABF uniform and represent the ABF professionally in the public domain. Officers must be capable of interacting with members of the community and foreign visitors.

Eligibility To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
