We are seeking a passionate heritage management professional to work in our dynamic team. In this position, you'll play a key part in implementing the department's cultural heritage guidelines, engaging meaningfully with our heritage stakeholders and driving positive outcomes for heritage as part of our infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will involve conducting field investigations, developing management plans, and consulting and coordinating with our Cultural Heritage stakeholders for assessments and advice.Your role will involve ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, processes, policies and best practice management in all aspects related to cultural heritage.Your expertise in managing historical and indigenous cultural heritage will be instrumental throughout various phases of our transport infrastructure projects—ranging from initial planning to construction and eventual maintenance.Your ability to integrate these crucial elements into our projects will be key.Join us in this role, where you'll have the opportunity to significantly contribute to the preservation and seamless integration of cultural heritage within our transport projects. Your expertise will play a crucial role in shaping our initiatives and honouring the rich heritage of our region.Some of your responsibilities will include:• Implementation of the departments' environmental and cultural heritage manual and guidelines, including the completion of field briefs, site investigations, impact assessments and audits.• Provide advice to management and staff on issues, processes, policy and legislative requirements on indigenous and historical Cultural Heritage to ensure compliance with all requirements.• Develop and deliver training packages on Cultural Heritage legislation, processes and requirements to ensure district staff have the skills and understanding to deal with Cultural Heritage issues effectively.• Apply knowledge of historical and indigenous cultural heritage management to provide technical expertise and advice regarding cultural heritage processes and management measures for transport infrastructure projects through planning, design, construction, and maintenance.• Undertake and coordinate engagement with Cultural Heritage stakeholders to meet legislative obligations and policy objectives.• Influence infrastructure design and construction methodologies to align with cultural heritage goals, government objectives, and community expectations.• Manage cultural heritage data collection, registration, and integration with departmental mapping systems to build a comprehensive information catalogue.Mandatory requirements:• Possession of Bachelor of Archaeology, Anthropology, Social Science, Heritage Management, Heritage Conservation or related discipline.• Current holder of a 'C' class driver's licence.• Must be eligible to work in Australia.At Transport and Main Roads, we celebrate diversity in creating a workplace culture that is built on respect, dignity and fairness and we encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and lived experience.
