What's the opportunity? The Senior Governance, Assurance and Compliance Specialist reports to the Enterprise Risk and Compliance Lead and will lead and manage Telstra Health's compliance and assurance activities. This includes the compliance framework and associated practices, and delivery of our enterprise-wide assurance activities, thereby supporting the creation of a connected and improved digital health experience for all.
About the role: Risk Governance and Compliance Assist the Enterprise Risk & Compliance Lead to drive the development and maturity of the 3 lines of defence model across Telstra Health, aligning with company strategy to drive maturity in Risk and Compliance management and culture. Coordinate all compliance activities and ensure compliance obligations are understood and monitored across the business. Support and coordinate monitoring activities to ensure compliance with applicable legal, ethical, and regulatory standards. Manage the Compliance Framework to support compliance with legal and regulatory requirements including: Maintaining the compliance obligations register Developing and maintaining the process for identifying and responding to regulatory changes Supporting the first line of defence's compliance capabilities, including by providing compliance tools, templates, systems, and training. Compliance Management and Assurance Ensure Telstra Corporation's Group Compliance Program is adhered to, and compliance risk is understood and appropriately managed at Telstra Health's context. Support Executives to deliver their Compliance Critical Obligation Areas to Telstra. Develop and execute Telstra Health's second line assurance and monitoring program, including the annual assurance plan and the controls testing plan, and lead/perform the assurance reviews and controls testing with the Assurance & Compliance Specialist. Assess gifts and benefits and conflicts of interest declarations to ensure compliance with Telstra policies and mitigate risks in these areas, along with ongoing management of the company registers. Manage and discharge the compliance training function including the release of mandatory compliance training courses within Telstra Health and periodic training reports to Telstra. Leadership and Governance Lead, coach, and manage direct report (Governance, Assurance & Compliance Specialist) as part of their day-to-day activities and professional development. Assist the Enterprise Risk & Compliance Lead in completion of compliance and assurance reporting as required. Develop and maintain trusted and effective working relationships with executive stakeholders. About you: 5+ years experience in a Compliance or Audit role, and in developing and leading effective compliance and assurance activities across an organisation. Work experience should show a depth of experience in developing and reviewing a range of Framework and Policy documents. Extensive experience in developing and implementing compliance frameworks including all associated policies, tools, governance frameworks, and monitoring reports. Exceptional communication and influencing skills at executive and board levels. Experience in delivering internal audits, reviews, and health checks. Strong judgment, integrity, and a collaborative mindset. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Experience working in a health industry environment. Continuous process improvement mindset. Proactive, resilient, and commercial with a strong ability to navigate complex matters and make informed decisions. Essential: Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in assurance, compliance, or auditing. Desirable: Understanding of ISO Standards and certification.
