Position: Telecommunications Technician
Salary: $74,000 plus 11.5% super
Hours: 38 hours
Mode: Full time

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Telecommunications Technician to join our dynamic team.
Responsibilities included but not limited to:
• Review technical drawings, specifications, and work area layouts to determine optimal placement and connections for telecommunications equipment.
• Install and configure telecommunications systems, including telephone lines, data networks, radio communication systems, and TV transmission equipment.
• Set up telecommunications appliances such as phones, switchboards, and data transmission units.
• Use diagnostic instruments (e.g., ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters) to locate faults in telecommunications equipment.
• Troubleshoot system malfunctions, identify defective components, and carry out repairs, replacements, or adjustments to restore service.
• Conduct tests and measurements to ensure proper functioning of repaired or newly installed systems.
• Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance on both aerial and underground cables, ensuring continued optimal performance.
• Maintain, repair, and replace faulty antenna systems, including radio and mobile phone antennas, to ensure strong signal quality.
• Adhere to industry standards, local regulations, and safety protocols during all installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
• Ensure equipment installation meets quality standards and that systems are functioning at peak efficiency.
• Record and maintain accurate logs of installations, repairs, and maintenance work performed.
• Communicate effectively with clients to explain the scope of work, troubleshoot issues, and provide recommendations for improving service.
• Provide technical support and training to clients as necessary for the proper use and maintenance of installed telecommunications systems.
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
• Relevant qualifications in telecommunications or a related field. (Preferred but not mandatory)
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a telecommunications technician role, with hands-on experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of telecommunications systems experience.
Other Skills and Requirements:
• Strong knowledge of telecommunications systems, including voice, data, and video transmission technologies.
• Ability to use a range of diagnostic instruments to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Practical experience with installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment and infrastructure, including cables, antennas, and appliances.
• Excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills for resolving complex technical issues.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and reporting.
• Knowledge of safety standards related to the installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment.
