Telecommunications Field Engineer Job DescriptionTelecommunication engineers have various responsibilities, including managing data for different modes of communication (such as voice, video, calls, and text).
They are responsible for the design and installation of telecommunication equipment and ensuring high-quality wireless communication by maintaining base transceiver stations.
Job ResponsibilitiesGeneral duties include: Routine maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performanceDesign and conduct network tests and evaluation activitiesIntegrate network and telecommunications technology with computer software, hardware, and operating systemsDocument procedures, guidelines, regulations, and quality standardsProvide technical advice and monitor equipment performancePlan telecommunications network infrastructureMonitor contractual obligations and performance deliveryOptimize, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and resolve malfunctions, defects, and faults in telecommunications network performanceField engineers work on demanding schedules and must be able to travel to repair sites until service is restored.
A typical requirement is a two-year technical degree, with most employers preferring some experience with telecommunications systems.
Minimum QualificationsA necessary qualification for this position is an undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate (PG) degree in electronic engineering.
