Telecommunications Field Engineer Job Description Telecommunication engineers have various responsibilities, including managing data for different modes of communication (such as voice, video, calls, and text). They are responsible for the design and installation of telecommunication equipment and ensuring high-quality wireless communication by maintaining base transceiver stations.
Job Responsibilities General duties include: Routine maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance Design and conduct network tests and evaluation activities Integrate network and telecommunications technology with computer software, hardware, and operating systems Document procedures, guidelines, regulations, and quality standards Provide technical advice and monitor equipment performance Plan telecommunications network infrastructure Monitor contractual obligations and performance delivery Optimize, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and resolve malfunctions, defects, and faults in telecommunications network performance Field engineers work on demanding schedules and must be able to travel to repair sites until service is restored. A typical requirement is a two-year technical degree, with most employers preferring some experience with telecommunications systems.
