Monash Tech School is one of ten Tech Schools established across Victoria.
It is a funded initiative through the Statewide Programs and Tech Schools Division in the Department of Education.
Hosted by Monash University, at its Clayton campus and administered by John Monash Science School, Monash Tech School's partner schools include Year 7-12 secondary schools and specialist education schools in the Monash local government area.
In addition it has a number of industry, tertiary and research partners including the City of Monash, Holmesglen Institute and SEC Victoria.
Monash Tech School offers hands-on learning programs that offer students new STEM opportunities, whether they be incursions, excursions, industry workplace tours, public lectures, or maker fairs.
The Programs
Monash Tech School designs learning programs that challenge students to tackle real-world problems and use technology to build skills such as collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Monash Tech School programs are delivered in a variety of ways:
Onsite: Partner school students in Years 7 - 10 come to our facility to participate in a one or two day program.
They use principles such as design thinking to create potential solutions to real world problems. Online: Students across Victoria participate in Zoom-delivered modules designed to challenge students to consider new ideas and concepts.
They engage with hands-on resources and digital technologies to explore various skills related to the module topic. On Field: Partner school students attend immersion days both onsite at Monash Tech School and at industry sites.
They complete activities allowing students to investigate growth employment sectors, identify essential skill sets, and make informed decisions about future pathways and occupations. On Call: Students participate in programs designed and delivered by Monash Tech School staff in collaboration with partner school teachers.
Students engage with a range of physical and digital technologies to explore future-focused problems that may be delivered at Monash Tech School or at their own school. Monash Tech School has a strong commitment to child safety.

Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate Child Safe behaviours when engaging with children and young people. SC2 Demonstrated experience conducting research into emerging STEM technologies. SC3 Demonstrated skill, knowledge and experience in implementing STEM technologies in educational settings. SC4 Demonstrated ability or capacity to work and contribute in a team driven environment that includes a variety of stakeholders of different professional backgrounds and experience. SC5 Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences, including capacity to coach others in the effective use of technologies to meet individual or educational goals. SC6 Demonstrated organisational and time management skills needed to help implement high quality projects within budget, scope and deadlines. Role Technology coordinators form the core of the tech-team.
The purpose of this team is to lead the technological aspects, and to collaborate with teaching staff on the content aspects of student program development.
This team also supports student program delivery.
General functions of the tech-team include coordination of technology assets in support of program delivery, maintenance of existing technology assets and physical spaces, supporting administration, and development of new technology products.
Within the tech-team your area of coordination will be specific to technology research.
You will conduct, and share your deep investigation into new technologies, and collaborate to integrate this research into student program development.
This will include:
Proactively following technology developments both locally and globally. Leading discussions with the team at large to determine how technologies might best be brought into the Monash Tech School context. Developing specialised knowledge and know-how on select emerging technologies. Translating findings into value for the Monash Tech School through staff training, new product development and documentation. This is an engaging role that will suit a candidate with a creative mindset and a drive to explore and understand new technologies.

Responsibilities Key responsibilities: Discovering new technologies and interpreting them to bring value to the Monash Tech School context. Conducting deep dives to develop capability with new technologies. Collaborating with program and product development teams to design new student programs and develop supporting digital technologies. Diagnosing and fixing faults with existing STEM equipment. Training staff with the use of technologies. Coordination of Tech School assets to support programs. Facilitating small groups of secondary students in the use of technologies. Creating new and refining existing technology operating procedures, guidelines and standards. Experience with virtual environments. A Tertiary education in IT or Engineering - Diploma or higher. Experience working in a school environment. Programming ability.
