No. 34651 Mount Isa Mines is one of the oldest, largest and most complex mining operations in Australia located in Mount Isa, Queensland. Employing over 4,000 people, Mount Isa Mines is now looking for a new member to join the team.
The Role We are looking for a motivated person to join us in the role of Occupational Hygiene Technician within the Mount Isa Mines operations.
As an Occupational Hygiene Technician, you will become one of the valuable health and safety champions within our operation. From day one, you will work together with an experienced team where you will assist in the collection of exposure monitoring samples such as airborne particulates and noise for risk management and legislative compliance. The measurement process will involve the use of analytical equipment capable of obtaining real-time data as well as the associated data entry and analysis.
Your key responsibilities include:
Facilitate calibration and maintenance of sampling equipment Conduct sampling to measure and monitor worker exposure to a range of occupational health hazards Facilitate laboratory analysis of collected samples Work with occupational hygienists to interpret and analyse data, and recommend actions to prevent or reduce workplace exposure to harmful agents Valid and accurate data collection and entry into Glencore's data management systems The successful applicants will have: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills The ability to liaise and influence effectively across multiple levels of the workforce, management, regulatory bodies, medical and health providers Competent computer skills in Microsoft, particularly Excel and Word One to two years experience in occupational hygiene practices is desirable Successful completion of the AIOH Basic Principles of Occupational Hygiene course and/or BSBWHS419 (contribute to implementing WHS monitoring processes) is highly desirable Asbestos survey certification and/or tertiary qualifications in an associated discipline will be highly regarded Hold a manual driver's licence Applications Close: 8:00am Thursday 7th November 2024.
