The Opportunity An exciting opportunity exists for a Technician - Moulding to join our Manufacturing Support team in our Macquarie University global HQ. As a key member of the manufacturing support team, you will be the first point of contact and work closely with our bespoke silicon injection moulding machines to resolve issues on the line whilst prioritising the needs of the business.
Responsibilities include: Mould tool installation and set up to ensure alignment of the moulds, all connections (hydraulic, electrical, and cooling) are properly configured to enable efficient production and high-quality output.Mould tool changes, safely removing the existing mould, preparing the new mould, and installing it with precision.Configure and adjust the moulding machines to the required settings for each production run.Continuously monitor and fine-tune moulding settings to optimize production efficiency and product quality.Conduct trials of new or modified mould tools to validate their performance.Ensure that all moulding equipment is in good working condition and available for production.Ensuring safe work practices throughout the moulding areas.Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities.What makes this opportunity unique? About You As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Prior experience with troubleshooting and working with moulding machines in a manufacturing environment.Proven experience in maintaining and repairing silicone injection moulding machines or similar equipment.Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations in a manufacturing environment.Follow safety and quality protocols (WHS & GMP).Flexible to work on either morning or afternoon shift, as well as some overtime (including weekends) if required.Certificate IV Polymer Technology (Injection Moulding) or equivalent (highly desirable).Experience in injection moulding in the medical device industry (highly desirable).Cochlear's mission is to help people hear and be heard.
