About the Role We are currently seeking applications from experienced Laboratory Technicians to join the Newman Analytical Hub. The successful candidates will have a background in automated/analytical laboratory operations and will be able to carry out associated tasks including but not limited to, preventative and planned maintenance of automated laboratory equipment.
The Newman Analytical Hub (NAH) operates 24/7 and is a fully automated sample preparation and analysis facility. The NAH is an important part of the grade control process within Western Australian Iron Ore. Samples are supplied to the NAH from blast patterns in the pits, and production stockpiles. Results from these samples guide supply chain decisions.
Lifestyle Roster: 4D5R5N4R5D5R4N5R5D4R5N5R Key Responsibilities Complete daily workplace inspections and fix/report hazards and complete risk assessments as required. Attend daily shift handovers, Safe Start and address any previous hazards and risks for current shift. Run the equipment and complete QAQC checklists in either preparation or analysis areas. Fix equipment breakdowns and/or raise notifications for maintenance technicians to fix faulty equipment. Clean equipment and maintain end of shift duties/housekeeping. Complete Work Management by time confirming and uploading documents into 1SAP. Supply or add information to the shift handover report. An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development. Promoting a team culture where communication is open and respectful. About You As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
Cert III in Laboratory Techniques or higher. Experience with automated plant control systems such as Prepmaster. Previous experience working within a laboratory supporting the minerals industry. Exposure to a previous Laboratory Information Management System such as CCLAS, Sample Manager. A strong focus on operating discipline. A working knowledge of HSE systems and their implications for day-to-day operational activities. Good understanding of quality control and the implications regarding the operation of a process plant. Understanding of overall laboratory practices, sample preparation and analysis including TGA and XRF. Exposure to mechanical maintenance practices. Able to work unsupervised and handle complex tasks in a safe and effective manner. Values driven, a positive attitude, energetic and well-developed interpersonal skills are essential.
