Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited.
Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China.
Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West.
It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
The opportunity We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated Technical Translator & Interpreter to join our Executive team based on the Karara mine site.
This role will be offered as a permanent position, operating on a day shift roster of 5 days on and 2 days off, 4 days on and 3 days off, 9 days on and 5 days off. *To be considered for this role, applicants must be fluent in Chinese (Mandarin) and English, both written and verbal; NAATI certification (certified level) is preferred.
* To be successful in the role, the following is essential: A Tertiary qualification in Engineering or Translation & Interpreting or other relevant disciplineFluency in Chinese (Mandarin) and English both verbal and written communication in a business and operational environmentExtensive experience in technical translation and interpreting (desirable)Knowledge in engineering including mineral processing, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process control, mining (advantageous)Experience in mine operations including mining, processing, maintenance, engineering, rail and port (advantageous)Must be a permanent resident or have Australian Citizenship or hold a valid visa with permission to workNational Police clearanceTo be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work permanently in Australia. Key Duties: Provide interpretation and translation services to site-based management including General Manager Operations, Deputy General Manager OperationsProvide interpretation and translation services to other site-based and port teams where requiredFacilitate efficient and effective communications between English and Chinese (Mandarin) speaking managers and employeesBe the main point of contact for internal departments and contractors when liaising with the General Manager Operations.
Understand the requirements in each instance and coordinate/act accordinglyCoordinate daily reporting, instructions and escalation processes between internal departments including Mining, Processing, Maintenance, Logistics, HST, Site Services and General Manager OperationsCoordinate and manage the calendar for the General Manager OperationsAttend various operational and business meetings to support the completion of actions through escalation and follow up as instructed and agreedAssist to review or produce meeting minutes when requiredProvide interpretation and translation services to any corporate visitors, technical visitors and auditors where requiredProvide translation support to the executive support team as required and as instructedPerform any other tasks reasonably delegated within skill set and competency that may be required from site, port and head office locationsProvide general administration support to site management team as requiredAbout Karara Mining Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia, Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years.
The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.
As part of the logistics network, Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
