The School of Design & Architecture (SoDA) is seeking a skilled Technical Support Officer to provide technical support in the Fashion Design studio, ProtoLAB, and associated spaces.
You will work closely with undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as academic and research staff, to deliver timely training and support for classroom and studio activities.
Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services Design and Architecture, you will advise on equipment and consumable purchases to keep facilities up to date.
The role requires a versatile skillset, including both traditional and advanced sewing techniques.
Knowledge of high-end 3D printing, basic electronics, and general workshop skills like laser cutting would be advantageous.

About You To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: Demonstrated ability to apply a broad range of technical knowledge and experience to advise staff and students on practical components of academic course workDemonstrated ability to advise students and staff on sewing and garment production processes, including material selection, industrial sewing methods and specialist equipment useDemonstrated knowledge of contemporary OH&S procedures and practices in an educational environment, and demonstrated ability to supervise and instruct students in these proceduresKnowledge of design software such as Adobe Illustrator, 3D CAD, and garment patterning software such as CLO 3D.Qualifications
Completion of a relevant degree and/or demonstrated technical experience.
