With operations across Australia, we are now looking for a  Technical Superintendent  to join our Rivtow Marine team in Port Hedland. This great opportunity to live and work in Western Australia's thriving Pilbara region will see you using your technical expertise to support a large fleet of escort and harbour tugs.
Working with some of the best in the business, in this role you will:
Monitor and manage Flag State and Class compliance, including vessel defect rectification and modifications Monitor and ensure compliance with Rivtow QHSE Management System and vessels' Safety Management Systems Ensure maximum availability and reliability of vessels and associated infrastructure (barge, crew transfer vessels) Determine vessel repair requirements and procedures Manage vessel dockings within project timeframes and budgets Manage defects and Planned Maintenance System work orders Study plans and specifications and prepare templates and scale plans for fabrication and cutting of hull sections Mark reference points and lines on dry docks and slipways Check position and functioning of slipway apparatus Erect and prepare launching platforms, conduct pre-launch tests, and supervise launching procedures Install masts, frames, decking, fittings, machines, shafts, and safety equipment Build and install structures such as machine mountings, propeller supports and rudders Coach vessel crews and shore-side maintenance team to achieve a high safety performance and strong safety culture Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and client Assist in the ongoing review and development of continuous improvement initiatives Undertake and assist in the conduct of internal technical audits of vessels Implement changes and improvements to the Planned Maintenance Systems Coordinate all vessel Out-Of-Commission (OOC) activities and associated bookings Monitor and ensure compliance of vessel certification utilising computer-based systems Actively participate in and encourage QHSE Leadership activities Report all accidents, incidents and hazards in a timely manner and in accordance with policy Provide support to the Senior Technical Superintendent as required Any duties as required by the Senior Technical Superintendent, or supervisor, within the individual's skills and abilities. You will hold tertiary qualifications in Marine Engineering and/or minimum Engineer Class III (Class I preferred) and:
be safety focused possess a continuous improvement mindset previous experience operating in a towage fleet or similar sound understanding of ISM/ISO/Class/AMSA legislation, management systems and practices sound technical knowledge of shipboard systems minimum three years' experience in vessel maintenance and management sound understanding of computer based planned maintenance systems (e.g. Sertica, NS5) demonstrated flexibility and resilience in dealing with complex issues, and implementation of sound problem solving methodology with sound decision making capability high level of safety awareness and ability to lead/coach others to high safety performance strong organisational skills with demonstrated time management ability strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels strong customer service skills with the ability to identify and build key relationships hold, or be eligible to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) be willing to relocate to Port Hedland.
