The purpose of the Technical Specialist role is to support the Case Management teams by providing up-to-date technical guidance on the compensation payment schemes and assisting in their claims administration under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act (SRC Act). This position operates in a customer centric environment that focuses on the proactive management of claims.
In addition to providing technical advice to Case Managers, this role is also required to proactively manage litigated matters for self-insured licensees under the SRC Act. This includes providing instructions to legal providers, facilitating case conferences and resolution strategies with all parties, and providing updates on litigated matters to internal stakeholders.
This is a
permanent, full time
position based in either our
Canberra or Melbourne
office, with flexibility to work from home for up to 3 days per week once fully trained.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical advice support to claims teams about the claims management process in line with SRC Act.
Provide timely and appropriate instructions to panel legal firms in litigated matters.
Proactively resolve litigated matters and applications made with the Administrative Appeals Tribunal that demonstrates holistic resolution through consultation and appropriate resolution strategies.
Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Provide monthly reports outlining trends, decision outcomes and feedback for the Claims Operations team.
Proactively identify and support improvement in any potential reputational risks in the Tribunal through management of litigated matters.
Maintain risk awareness with focus on continuous improvement and decision-making opportunities identified throughout the management of litigated matters.
Assist organisational compliance with legal, governance and self-insurance license requirements.
ABOUT YOU
Thorough understanding of the SRC Act.
Strong experience interpreting and working in legislation and insurance schemes.
Legal or internal review experience.
Effective decision-making and time management skills.
Superior written and verbal communication, and leadership skills.
Problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
Experience in managing relationships and competing stakeholder priorities.
Experience in coaching and supporting others.
