Fitzroy Mining Operations is a new force in the Queensland metallurgical coal mining industry with a portfolio of existing operations and a pipeline of growth projects.
In our short history, we have successfully reinvigorated operations at Carborough Downs underground mine, breathed new life into the Broadlea open cut and we also have our new underground longwall mine at Ironbark No.1.
About the role Based on site at Ironbark No.1, reporting to the SSE, the Technical Services Manager is a pivotal role that forms part of our high-performing Site Leadership Team.
Leading a multi-disciplined team of Surveyors, Geologists, Mining Engineers, Gas Drainage and Ventilation SMEs, you will be responsible for the delivery of all site-based technical services support to the Ironbark mine.
You will be accountable for leading your team to deliver short, medium and long-term mine planning and design activities including the development of plans to maximise mine operations.
Under your supervision, your team will also be responsible for surveying, ventilation and gas drainage and geological deliverables ensuring optimisation and process improvements are front of mind.
Got what it takes?
You have tertiary qualifications in mining engineering, geosciences or relevant discipline.
You have held technical leadership position/s in an underground coal mining environment in Queensland and/or New South Wales.
You have experience in managing contractors including an in-depth understanding of the key elements of contractor management.
You have strengths in system review, refinement, development and implementation.
You have delivered detailed budgeting processes.
You are confident liaising with regulatory and industry bodies.
You bring an engaging leadership style with a passion for driving your team to deliver successful outcomes.
