Technical Officer – Rural Operations  Continuing, full-time appointment Professional Employee Level 4/5 - $66,471 – $74,858 pa Plus 17% superannuation and 6 weeks annual leave Katherine Rural Campus  Apply your experience in North Australian pastoral production and extensive beef cattle systems to provide assistance to students, staff, and researchers. About the Position
As the role Technical Officer, you will be expected to prepare equipment, supplies, vehicles and machinery necessary for efficient training with the Agriculture and Rural Operations Team/lecturers. Support the farm manager with livestock duties as necessary for efficient operation and presentation of the Katherine Stud and Farm, this includes the daily care and maintenance of the horse plant. Assist with non-accredited training and programs run at Katherine rural campus.
About You
To be successful, you will require:
Completion of a relevant Certificate IV level qualification with relevant work-related experience or a certificate level qualification with relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of extensive relevant experience and/or education/training. Demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to manage workloads to meet conflicting deadlines, work well within a team and adapt to a changing work environment, while maintaining initiative, self-motivation and discipline. Demonstrate advanced livestock husbandry and handling skills, particularly in relation to beef cattle and horses and have a high standard for animal welfare. Ability to utilise and/or the willingness to be trained in basic Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software packages, including livestock herd data recording and NLIS software and equipment. Have previous experience with horses and demonstrate an advanced level of husbandry, handling and riding abilities, including those related to young horses, to older horses with differing education levels and to the management of equine behavioural issues. Available to travel and work remote to support training needs for up to 14 days. This can include camping out. Additional requirements at Level 5: 
Completion of a degree or diploma in a relevant field, demonstrated supervisory level industry employment experience with at least two years' subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training. The demonstrated experience in applying effective and WHS based work practices, use initiative, work without close supervision and apply attention to detail. Remuneration 
Appointment to this role will be at Professional Employee Level 4/5. The base salary will be in the range of $66,471 – $74,858 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $77,771 - $87,583 per annum, including 17% superannuation. What's in it for you?
