The Animal Technical Officer may also manage small projects under the guidance of the Science, Technology and Adoption Manager.
While based primarily in one location, there is a requirement for local and interstate travel including time on our Farms and breeding facilities.
Day to day your role will include: Coordinate and conduct research studies in disciplines including nutrition, reproduction, genetics, health, and welfareUndertake experiment-based daily husbandry tasks including but not limited to feeding, live weight assessment, sample collection, and monitoring of animal health and welfareCarry out animal and computer-based data collection including laboratory work such as sample preparation and scoring, video analysesMaintenance of research equipmentDemonstrate and exercise a commitment to promote, develop and improve the health, safety, environment, and welfare of our people and animalsCarry out any other reasonable and lawful directions that may be given from time to time by the company.Who We Are Looking For SunPork has established an efficient, highly skilled yet diversified team that is dedicated to producing high quality, sustainable welfare-optimal products.
As a key member of this team, the successful applicant must have:
A Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related field and/or a sound understanding of intensive animal production systemsExperience in the conduct of animal performance trials is preferred but not essentialA readiness to work flexible hours (including weekends and public holidays) as needed, as well as the ability to travel to other SunPork sitesStrong problem-solving, organisation, and communication skillsReasonable degree of fitnessAbility to work independently and as directed by the Science, Technology and ManagerAbility to work independently whilst delivering project outcomes in a timely mannerThe scheduling and management of projects that are run concurrentlyMaintaining a productive relationship with others in the Science, Technology and Adoption team, and in the Technical Services business unit despite physical distanceYour application will include the following questions:
