Trengove Consulting provides independent and innovative agricultural field research, soil testing and agronomy services in the South Australian grains industry. We deliver high quality field trials and research outcomes for the benefit of the industry, contributing to more productive, efficient and sustainable farming systems.
Working with soil sampling, mapping and research equipment, you will be involved in undertaking a diverse range of activities. These will support the Research Officers and Consultants at Trengove Consulting to deliver field trials and research projects. Projects address a diverse range of agronomic questions including crop nutrition, crop protection, soil amelioration and weed management.
You will have the opportunity to utilise your practical skills in the field completing soil mapping and trial operations such as seeding, measurements and harvest. Trial planning and reporting is also an important part of this role, and you will have the opportunity to develop these skills. Opportunities to work alongside established Agricultural Consultants will also be available as well as working directly with farmers.
Trengove Consulting is based at Bute South Australia, with a second office in Clare. This position will be primarily based at the Bute office but will involve travelling to sites around the Yorke Peninsula and Mid North.
As the Technical Officer you will: Provide support for research projects through the accurate operation of plant and equipment including, seeding, harvest and specialist research equipment. Work both independently and with other staff, following instructions from staff to complete tasks within research projects. Provide support for maintenance of Veris mapping machine to enable smooth operation in the field. Undertake pH mapping operations using Veris soil mapping technology. These activities will provide opportunity to travel within cropping areas of South Australia. You will be required to troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance tasks while operating machinery. Provide support to Researchers and Consultants producing high quality research reports and presentations. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent. A current "C" class driver's license and access to your own vehicle for travel to and from work. Experience in agriculture and/or field crop research. Basic mechanical skills such as operating farm machinery and general maintenance. Experience using Microsoft software. This position will be suitable for candidates with experience in this field as well as new graduates entering the industry with a willingness to learn.
