(HEO 5) $77,409 to $86,072 per annum plus an employer contribution of up to 17% superannuation applies.We are seeking a motivated, capable and skilled technician with experience in providing general laboratory and technical support for a range of research and teaching activities.Primarily, this role will support

the School of Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences

undergraduate teaching program on North Terrace supporting teaching in the areas of

Earth Sciences .The Technical team supports the internationally acclaimed and contemporary disciplines of molecular & cellular biology; ecology & environmental sciences; geology & earth sciences and genetics & evolution, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate education, training and research with both national relevance and global outreach and networks in the public and private sectors.

The Technical Officer liaises with academics for the coordinated delivery of undergraduate practicals and is responsible for both planning the technical aspects and providing administrative support including coordinating associated field trips. The role provides technical support for several rock processing labs and training of staff/students in these facilities. The Technical Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate records of equipment, teaching material and training, ensuring compliance with Health, Safety and Wellbeing and legislative requirements. The Technical Officer supports activities related to a broad range of laboratory skills in the field of Earth Sciences and general biology.

To be successful you will need:Demonstrated experience in supporting the provision of laboratory services in earth science/geology.Demonstrated experience with maintenance of lab/rock processing equipment, chemical handling and waste disposal processes.Demonstrated experience with developing SOP, RA, routine maintenance and liaising with contractors for equipment repair.Ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate individual and teamwork activities to achieve goals and meet deadlinesKnowledge of HSW and safety management with demonstrated experience in application of these in a research environment.Knowledge/experience of environmental biology is desirable.Enjoy an outstanding career environmentThe University of Adelaide is a uniquely rewarding workplace.
