The School of Health and Social Development within the Faculty of Health is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Technical Officer to join them in a full-time, continuing position.
The Technical Officer is responsible for providing technical support to the academic teaching within the School of Health and Social Development including Play Therapy, Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy, by ensuring practical and technical services are delivered in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
As a Technical Officer you will work closely with the academic and professional teams so it is important that you recognise the importance of teamwork and are able build rapport within immediate team and diverse range of stakeholders.
Please note that this role is based on site 5 days a week due to the practical nature of the position.
As a Technical Officer, you will:

Provide technical expertise for the School of Health and Social Development's teaching programs in Occupational Therapy, Child Play Therapy and Speech Pathology. Complete set up and pack down of simulation and laboratory classes and assessments, including preparation and maintenance of equipment.
Coordinate on a day-to-day basis, materials and equipment requirements of staff and students for the running of practical classes within disciplines of expertise clarifying expectations and responding promptly to resolve technical problems, issues, and requirements to ensure client needs met to agreed standards and timelines.
Understand local processes, prepare standard documents, manage records, regularly track progress of work tasks, and identify key issues.
Provide support and advice to staff and students regarding the ordering, management, safe use, and disposal of chemicals, biologicals, equipment, and consumables.
Contribute to maintenance of teaching facilities by performing regular housekeeping tasks.
Monitor and maintain occupational health and safety requirements with regards to simulation and laboratory practices, including conducting regular inspections.

To be successful, you'll have:

Completion of a Degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or
Completion of an Associate Diploma and at least two years subsequent relevant work experience; or
An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
Experience working in a laboratory setting, ideally within a tertiary education environment
Good knowledge of OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) principles and an understanding of the requirements for safety when working with biological and chemical hazards
