Technical Officer.
The Technical Officer is a member of a small team responsible for innovation in, and continuous improvement of NRAR's operational technologies* being those technologies, business systems and standards NRAR use to collect evidence in the field, and to manage and process it.This is an opportunity to be part of a dedicated and highly regarded team within NRAR.* Technologies include drones, aerial photogrammetry, LiDAR, castable depth sounders, transit time ultrasonic flow meters, acoustic Doppler current profiler for open channel flow measurement and bathymetric survey of farm storages, dumpy levels, laser levels, RTK GPS and hand-held GPS. Supporting business systems include policy, procedures, operating standards, data management standards, software and user training materials .The Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR) enforces the NSW water laws and offers guidance and education to help water users comply. We strive to be an efficient and effective regulator that celebrates and reflects the diversity of the community we serve. Working with NRAR provides a chance to make sure water is used lawfully so that all communities and the environment get a fair share .About YouThe technical officer contributes to selection, development, configuration, testing, operation and support of technical capabilities. The role provides advice and recommendations to support the delivery of future technology projects and initiatives and may be called on to provide expert opinion. You will have:A passion for innovation.Knowledge and experience in operation of technologies relevant to water regulation.Proven work history in rural water management or a similar field.Preferably, the successful applicant will have:Qualifications in a discipline relevant to rural water regulation or water management and/or equivalent experience.Ability to swim and to operate a kayak on still inland waters.The successful applicant will either hold or be willing to obtain on-the-job:
Occupational aquatic competency (swim) competency certificate.Kayak inland flat-water competency certificate.Coxswain NC3 certificate.
A current NSW Driver's Licence and a willingness to drive to remote locations which may include overnight stays. .DCCEEW conserves and protects the state's natural environment.
