Reporting to the Operations Manager - QLD, the Technical Director - Digital Systems will be responsible for providing domain-specific technical subject matter expert inputs relating to deploying digital train control systems, such as ETCS, to suburban and freight train networks.
This senior position will require the individual to have a track record in rail operations, maintenance & safety experience of supporting rail infrastructure operating organisations transition to digital train control systems.

The role:
Lead the services delivery of a flagship digital systems project, providing technical leadership to internal/external stakeholders across a range of complex rail digital systems.
Work and be recognised externally as the subject matter expert in the field of digital train control systems (ETCS, ATO, CBTC and/or TMS technologies).
Manage and coordinate activities across the project including Business Readiness, Human Factors & Operational Performance Modelling workstreams, managing the output of subconsultant(s).
Manage and integrate project workstreams to address client and project time, cost & quality requirements, whilst preparing and executing project plans for portfolio projects/work packages.
Demonstrate a sound understanding/experience in addressing the impacts to rail operator's operating & maintenance processes/systems when introducing these systems.
Develop concepts of operations & maintenance including operational scenarios, identify training needs through change impact assessment risk-based analysis.
Prepare the delivery of operational readiness plans and sponsor the development/adoption of repeatable methods, identifying the latest technical developments and recommending applications within the Company.
Interface and develop relationships with global SYSTRA colleagues to share knowledge and expertise, including mentoring junior colleagues.
Required qualifications & experience:
Bachelor level qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.
15+ years' experience in rail operations, maintenance & safety including experience of supporting rail infrastructure operating organisations' transition to digital train control systems.
Primary capability in railway signalling & control systems with desirable experience in systems engineering integration.
Able to demonstrate sound leadership skills, critical thinking & problem-solving skills, conflict resolution with the ability to present in a professional manner with a high level of credibility.
Have the ability to communicate difficult or complex messages to both technical and non-technical audiences and constructively challenge pre-conceived ideas or assumptions.
