As a member of the icare Insurance for NSW claim team, you will oversee a portfolio of complex liability claims across a number of product lines (incl. public liability, financial loss, medical negligence, D&O & Cyber). We are looking for vibrant candidates with a strong technical background in liability and/or professional indemnity claims.You will use your significant experience to drive strategy and balance the needs of the Treasury Managed Fund and the NSW Government Agencies. You will play a key role in supporting icare's transformation of its General Lines claims framework and its ongoing focus to uplift claims performance.DutiesIt's an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as Technical Claims Manager - Liability you will be involved across:Strategy and PlanningSupport the implementation and communication of claims strategies to achieve overall business targetsContribute to the development and implementation of appropriate processes, procedures and strategies for the claims function to support the delivery of business targetsContribute to the development and delivery of strategy in complex and high quantum liability claims to ensure opportunities for strong financial outcomes are identified and achievedPolicies, Process and ProceduresMonitor and manage claims service performance to ensure control of and reliable prediction of claims cost and frequencyWork closely with the Product, Client Engagement and Risk Advisory teams in the identification and remediation of claims trendsWork with legal service providers to identify risks, devise and implement claims resolution strategies.Maintain Claims Quality Assurance systems to ensure effective control and delivery of robust claims processes. Assist in the development and improvement of icare's claims management frameworkCustomer FocusWork with Client Engagement partners to build and maintain relationships with key agencies to support their operationsDevelop relationships with key internal stakeholders to deliver a first-class claims experience from lodgment to resolutionTechnical PerformanceHandle the highest value, complex, contentious and strategically important claims caseload in a technically excellent manner to ensure they are appropriately reserved and resolved for the optimum outcomeLiaise with Agencies, Client Engagement, Risk Advisory and Product to provide feedback as required, respond to their requirements and involve them in the claims management process. Work closely with the Reinsurance Team to keep reinsurers informed and manage recoveries.Carry out leakage and peer review audits to ensure internal and external compliance for a technical and stakeholder engagement perspectiveMonitor and enforce the Treasury and icare reserving guidelines and claims management philosophy to deliver Claims Excellence in the liabilityAssist in developing and maintaining appropriate technical standards for icare to ensure continuous business process improvementAssist in the development of processes to ensure that the claims function is aligned to the needs of the business and works closely with Client Engagement, Product and other business functionsUse your knowledge and experience to mentor and develop junior colleaguesSkills & ExperienceStrong technical background in both interpretation and application of statute law and common law within a litigated environmentSuccessfully handled large and complex losses and gained industry recognition for such for at least five yearsBroad working knowledge of claims systems, service requirements and processesFlexible and agile approach to claims management and problem-solvingAbility to work independently and balance competing demandsSophisticated negotiation skills and change management experienceAbility to use MS Office applicationsEffective and persuasive communication skillsGraduate level or equivalent qualifications in Law, Business or CommerceExperience managing Cyber Claims and medical negligence / professional indemnity claimsExperience working as part of a senior team in a multi-product insurance environmentAbility to contribute to the improvement of icare's claims management and reserving frameworkExperience working with State or Federal Government clientsCultureWe know our strength comes from the diversity of our people and would encourage people with different experiences and backgrounds to apply.
