Join the largest general insurance group in Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia.
As a technical assessing & event response specialist, you'll be assessing technical claims across IAG NZ's residential and commercial property portfolios, including complaints. You'll also be a go-to to provide technical support to the wider Property Assessing team. This role will require the ability to respond to significant claim events around the country, where you will form the first wave of IAG's assessing response, manage ground operations and provide support to impacted customers. Responsibilities include managing all aspects of the assessment of referred claims, providing recommendations around policy response and settlement to our Claims Teams, and guidance to the wider Property Assessing team. Knowledge of the building industry, customer service, teamwork, technical coaching, quality assurance, and project management are also key aspects of the role, aiming to improve customer outcomes and service levels.
We have two fixed-term vacancies available for a duration of 12 months. While our preference is for candidates based in Auckland, we are open to applicants from the upper North Island.

To be successful in this role, you'll possess skills/ experience in the following areas:
• Proficient in insurance, specialising in technical claim assessment and policy interpretation.
• Knowledge of the building industry with the ability to identify damage, and where necessary engage with industry experts to provide clear recommendations around loss cause and appropriate reinstatement strategies.
• Experience in attending and/or managing event responses in the insurance sector. • Systematically identify and resolve issues, analyse data from diverse sources.
• Make timely, informed decisions and recommendations and commit to a course of action.
• Prioritise customer needs in all claim decisions, including managing escalations.
• Build strong relationships, mentor staff in technical assessment issues.
• Maintain a positive demeanor, work effectively under pressure and change.
• Convey complex information clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.
