Team Manager, Quality Control - Financial Crime Surveillance

Full-time role (Monday-Friday)

How will I help?
The Financial Crime Surveillance (FCS) team is part of Westpac's Risk Division and is responsible for detecting, deterring and fighting financial crime. This role is part of the first line of defence for financial crime related risks such as anti-money laundering, sanctions, KYC and customer due diligence.
As the Team Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing a dedicated team and ensuring the highest standards of operational discipline and quality control. We are looking for someone with people leadership skills and a strong background in risk management and operational experience. This role offers the opportunity to shape team culture, drive performance, and set benchmarks for excellence.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Team Performance: Drive team growth through objective setting, performance monitoring, coaching, and recruitment, while recognizing and rewarding customer-centric behaviour.
Operational Excellence: Manage resources and operations, ensuring accurate forecasting, scheduling, and adherence to Active Operations Management principles.
Strengthen Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain key internal and external partnerships, drive process improvements, and ensure effective incident management and service level agreements.
Ensure Compliance and Risk Management: Oversee financial, regulatory, and compliance controls, maintain audit standards, and contribute to process improvements and risk management strategies.

What do I need?

Experience within banking or financial services.
Proven ability to lead and manage teams, with a focus on developing talent and driving performance.
Experience in managing operations and running an effective team.
Experience and knowledge spanning AML/Counter Terrorism Finance and Sanctions Operations would be advantageous.
Strong background in risk management and quality control processes would be highly regarded but not essential.
