An exciting opportunity is available for an urban planner with leadership experience and great stakeholder management skills to apply for the newly created role of Manager Housing Unit within the Planning and Environment Assessment branch in DEECA.
Working on a variety of projects across the state, the role will lead a team of planners to support the assessment of housing projects. Contributing to strategic plans and providing advice on planning scheme amendments, you will play a key role in ensuring new developments are responsive to biodiversity values. Supported by the positive workplace culture at DEECA and a dynamic team of professionals in the branch, the role will have the opportunity to develop new approaches to engagement with key stakeholders including the Victorian Planning Authority, the Department of Transport and Planning, and local governments, and work towards the implementation of the Victorian Government's Housing Statement and other state and significant projects.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications A tertiary qualification in land use planning is mandatory.Detailed working knowledge of and experience in applying the Victoria Planning Provisions and experience in the preparation of place-based strategic plans is desirable.An understanding of current issues in regional planning and environmental consideration when planning for residential growth.Proven leadership skills and expertise and a demonstrated capacity to provide policy-based technical advice to decision makers.This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
