About the role The purpose of the role is to manage teacher registration (and related) enquiries and application assessments, according to legislative and policy requirements, in an effective and timely manner.
The incumbent will do this by assessing complex applications for teacher registration (and related applications); handling complex telephone enquiries from teachers, principals, employers, and other stakeholders; providing quality assurance checks on work; and developing and implementing improvements to process delivery.
A key part of this role is supervising and managing the day-to-day organisation, welfare, and performance of a team of 6-10 staff. This will require creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture by:
Setting clear team goalsMonitoring team performance and reporting on metricsIdentifying training needs and providing coaching.About you As an experienced team leader, you will have a track record in creating and maintaining an inspiring team environment. You will have experience in processing applications in a high-volume environment and ideally a passion for child safety and experience working within the education sector.
You will have strong leadership skills combined with a highly organised approach and a proven track record in leading a team in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
In addition to this, as the successful candidate, you will have:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex concepts, policies, and processes to stakeholdersGood conceptual and analytical abilities to identify and segment problems into the appropriate escalation point, to recognise the impacts of outputs, and to seek ways to improve outcomesProven ability to interpret and apply business plans and policies, and to translate this into effective risk management practicesDemonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships, including the ability to effectively manage and motivate a multidisciplinary teamDemonstration of the VIT behaviours and Victorian public sector values, behaving in a principled and respectful manner at all timesFlexibility, resilience, and a strong attention to detailExperience in high-volume customer service or registration/license/membership processing environment requiring the application of complex legislation, policy, and/or process is desirable.How to apply Please submit your resume and cover letter (no more than two pages) addressing the key selection criteria outlined in the attached position description.
