In responding to Camden Council's continued rapid growth, this position will lead one of three teams within our dynamic and high-achieving Strategic Planning Branch. You will be primarily responsible for the coordination and delivery of effective urban planning outcomes to support our growing community.
This exciting role will involve providing leadership to a focused, collaborative and supportive team working on a diverse range of complex and challenging strategic planning projects, which could include strategic centres planning, precinct planning and policy work within the South West Growth Area and broader Camden LGA. You will have the opportunity to shape and develop your team and play a key role in achieving great planning outcomes for the Camden community.

Key Responsibilities: Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or related discipline and extensive job-related experience Experience in a supervisory role with demonstrated skills in providing effective leadership, mentoring and motivation of staff Demonstrated ability to think strategically, holistically and creatively in leading the delivery of new urban release areas Demonstrated high level communication, interpersonal, negotiation and problem-solving skills Proven ability to make decisions to deliver complex outcomes in a politically sensitive environment in a timely and efficient manner A sound working knowledge of, and/or experience in, the implementation of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000 and the NSW Local Government Act 1993 Strong focus on and commitment to quality customer service Demonstrated ability to apply EEO, WHS and ethical practice principles and to act with probity at all times Demonstrated skills and experience in the formulation and implementation of community consultation programs Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional development. To meet Council's WHS requirements and in accordance with Council's Covid-19 Safety Plans, this position has been identified via risk assessment to be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or provide evidence of an approved medical contraindication. If a medical contraindication certificate is provided, it will be assessed against a risk assessment and the decision of whether Council accepts the medical contraindication certificate, will be based on operational needs.
