A bit about the roleJoin the City Amenity and Safety Department at Wyndham City Council in this newly created, unique role.
You will lead the school crossing unit in delivering an efficient and effective service for Council and the residents of Wyndham City, including supervision of school crossing staff and ensuring the provision of community education about road safety around schools.
You will also effectively work with the City Amenity Leadership team and support the wider unit in achieving its objective to protect city amenity and promote public safety by creating a culture of shared commitment for compliance with legislation and community expectations.
What you'll deliverEnhancement of the safety and efficiency of school crossing operations across the municipality.Supervision and management of the School Crossing Field Officer and School Crossing Supervisors, ensuring performance standards are met.Coordination of the operations of school crossings within the municipality, including liaising with schools, contractors, and other stakeholders.Reports on performance, safety concerns, and operational improvements to the Coordinator City Amenity.Effective and timely incident investigations at school crossings and recommend infrastructure or procedural improvements to maintain safety.Mentorship and guidance to staff, fostering a positive team culture and encouraging professional growth.Compliance with Child Safe Standards.What you'll bringSubstantial relevant experience in School Crossing Management or similar area of works.Ability to develop and manage public safety programs.Proven ability to lead a team to deliver an efficient and effective service.Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive inquiries and complaints.A current Victorian Driver's License.A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude.Be part of something moreTake a look at our job opportunities and you may be surprised at what you discover: a future-focused culture, a sense of purpose and possibility, and real opportunities to strengthen our diverse community.
