(HEO7) $95,017 - $106,270 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies. Fixed term and Full-Time position until end of June 2027 Working under general direction the Team Leader, Core Rodent Breeding Facility, will lead a small team, liaising with all research groups, delivering outstanding technical support, and ensuring breeding colony management adheres to ethically approved projects. In addition, the Team Leader will set up and coordinate rederivation of rodent lines into the breeding facility including IVF procedures and cryopreservation where appropriate.
The Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Core Rodent Breeding Facility including the establishment of facilities and services. In addition, the Team Leader will undertake compliance activities such as audits, inspections, quality assurance programs and coordinating facility and equipment maintenance with contractors to ensure the facility meets requirements of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
Overseeing the tasks of technicians to ensure compliance with researchers' specifications and the breeding colony size and strategies are a major part of this role, as well as leading a team of technicians makes this role unique as it requires someone who has both the technical and leadership experience.
The Division of Research and Innovation provides leadership in achieving the University's strategic goals, particularly in relation to research strategy, researcher education, services, infrastructure and supporting the development of world-class research and impact, both nationally and internationally.
To be successful you will need: Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with University HS&W policies and legislation. Effectively lead the professional staff in all aspects of people management including providing guidance, support and development. Ensure effective people management of direct reports to enable the team to deliver the business outcomes effectively and efficiently as practicable. Ensure timely completion of PDRs including development plans for direct reports and provide ongoing feedback on their work performance. Provide leadership and guidance in ensuring a service culture and student centric approach is applied within professional services and provide induction to new staff members. Lead, mentor and coach staff to promote continuous improvement, including undertaking on-the-job training/instruction and providing daily feedback and performance management. Qualification/s: A Diploma of Animal Technology and/or degree qualification with subsequent relevant experience; and/or An equivalent combination of relevant experience (preferably in a biomedical research environment) and/or education/training.
