Team Leader Rangers (Clerk Grade 9/10) Package includes salary, depending on experience, $120,859 - $133,183 plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading Ongoing full-time role Located in Lithgow. National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Team Leader Rangers (TLR) to work towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna, historic and Aboriginal heritage. About the Role The TLR reports directly to the Area Manager and is regarded a senior management role within the Area having significant influence in achieving conservation and community outcomes. The TLR must have very strong communication skills to ensure information flow, planning and reporting is accurate, free flowing and timely. The TLR leads a team of professional Rangers and is responsible for assisting with the development of strategic operational plans, developing and maintaining a wide range of industry and community professional relationships and setting clear workplans for the Ranger team in order to achieve the agency's goals. The role is highly diverse which is mainly office based however some field work is required regularly to support your team. The TLR is expected to have a broad understanding of all the Area's projects and be able to provide high level advice and support to the Rangers who directly report to them as well as the rest of the Area management team and the Branch management team. About the Area Kangara Area is responsible for the management of a diverse national parks estate from the Karst systems of Wombeyan and Abercrombie caves, Gardens of Stone State Conservation area to the to the wilderness areas of Kanangra Boyd, Wollemi, southern Blue Mountains National Parks and everything else in between. The area has high visitation at the caves and multiple camping areas across the area, 38 staff work across 5 officers/depots at Oberon, Lithgow, Hartley, Abercrombie and Wombeyan. Wildfire is a challenge during summer and the local team work cooperatively with the Rural fires Service as well as a wide range of other industry and stakeholders. About You We are looking for individuals who are passionate about conservation, land management and working collaboratively. Your project planning skills will be key in juggling and meeting competing priorities, while your ability to motivate and influence your team will be the key to achieving outcomes in a busy and changing environment. To be successful in the role, you will also have: strong leadership, facilitation and negotiation skills the ability to juggle competing priorities to meet deadlines a high attention to detail and great communication skills Experience in managing diverse, dispersed and/or multi-disciplinary teams in changing environment. expert project planning skills and discipline to ensure due process is followed Knowledge of and Experience in implementation of current relevant environmental legislation sound IT capabilities, particularly in databases, common MS Office software and some GIS experience industry experience including environmental assessment skills. Essential requirements Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent. This is a physically active role suited to candidates of all genders who are fit, enjoy working outdoors as part of a team, and are eager to learn and develop the skills and qualifications needed to contribute toward improving and maintaining some of NSW's most precious natural places. Applicants must meet the requirements of a firefighting medical which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake frontline firefighting roles. The applicant must pass the task based fitness assessment to a moderate level within the probationary period (up to 12 months) and annually thereafter. The role holder must obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
