We are proud to be partnering with Kingston City Council, located in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, to recruit an experienced and dynamic Team Leader - Property Services. This is a leadership role which will work closely with the Manager Property Services, where you will take charge of the council's property portfolio, encompassing the leasing, sales, acquisitions and overall management of council assets.Your new role:The decisions made in this role will have a significant impact on the organisation and the local community, contributing to the long-term sustainability and success of the council's property strategy moving forward.Key Responsibilities:Lead and mentor the property team, promoting staff development through coaching, counselling, and performance management, while fostering a positive, innovative work environment.Oversee the leasing, sale, and acquisition of council properties, ensuring all transactions comply with local government regulations and align with council objectives.Provide expert technical advice on complex property matters, including lease negotiations, regulatory breaches, and compliance, to senior management and the council.Manage property-related budgets and financial transactions up to $20,000 (ex-GST), ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with council goals.Implement risk management strategies, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and legal standards, while mitigating potential hazards within the property portfolio.Drive continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing the efficiency of property management operations and applying asset management principles for long-term sustainability.Administer procurement processes and monitor contractor performance, ensuring high-quality service delivery and adherence to contractual obligations.What you'll need to succeed:A degree in a property-related discipline or extensive industry experience in property management.In-depth knowledge of property law, including the Local Government Act, Leasing Acts, land titles, and property market conditions.Experience in writing and presenting reports.Strong experience in asset management, budget management, and property negotiations.Proven leadership skills, with experience in managing and developing teams to deliver on property objectives.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.Experience in inspecting properties, identifying repair requirements, and negotiating lease agreements.What you'll get in return:This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a supportive and inclusive team.
