Primary objective Be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the Police Infringement Office including the daily supervision of staff, the development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures, the provision of accurate information and advice to the public and staff; also for providing an effective information support and liaison service to the Fines Recovery Unit, Redflex, and operational Police members.
Context statement The Police Infringement Office is responsible for the processing of infringement notices issued by NT Police.
The position will oversee the daily operation of the unit and managing a team that is responsible for the accurate assessment, interpretation and quality control of information entered into the Integrated Justice Information System and liaison with the public, Police and Fines Recovery Unit.
Key duties and responsibilities 1.
Supervise staff and coordinate the daily functional aspects of the Police Infringement Office including training, allocation of tasks and advice.
2.
Undertake investigation and analysis and provide advice to staff, government departments, contractors and Police members.
3.
Prepare Investigation Files and designate to appropriate Police member or unit for action.
4.
Liaise with OIC/Superintendent regarding withdrawal/leniency files and take action on their decisions.
5.
Provide a high-level enquiry service to other Northern Territory Government Departments, the public and Police members.
6.
Deal with complaints and issues from the public with sensitivity and discretion.
7.
Ensure team participation and provision of assistance and administrative support to the work unit under direction.
Selection criteria Essential 1.
Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships, communicate with influence, negotiate confidently, and deal with all levels of government and the private sector.
2.
Proven ability to effectively supervise a small team in a sensitive and highly confidential environment.
3.
Demonstrated ability to prioritise, achieve results, identify work objectives and adapt to changing work priorities.
4.
Demonstrated experience, proficiency and a high degree of accuracy in data entry, word processing, keyboard and administrative skills and utilising various computer databases and applications.
Desirable 1.
Knowledge of the infringement process and applicable legislation with the ability to understand and apply policy and legislation and provide expert advice to staff and clients.
2.
Knowledge of the various computer systems utilised by the Northern Territory Police including Territory Records Manager (TRM).
3.
Demonstrated understanding of Court and Police terminology and procedures.
