The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Melton City Council as Team Leader Office of Mayor and Councillors.
This leadership role would suit a highly motivated individual with a 'can do' attitude, experienced at leading a team that provides high-level executive support with a strong customer focus.
Reporting to the Manager Governance, you will lead and mentor a team providing comprehensive executive support to the Mayor and Councillors.
The role involves complex diary management, correspondence and acting as a key liaison between Councillors and the community.
Your ability to manage sensitive matters with diplomacy and maintain discretion will be essential to your success.
Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day operation of the Office of Mayor and Councillors, including liaison with internal and external stakeholders including the CEO. Provide Leadership and supervision of staff, facilitating teamwork and achieving cooperative outcomes. Engage regularly and effectively with the CEO, responding to any direct requests they have related to the function of Mayor and Councillor support. Provide high level executive support to the Mayor and Councillors including making appointments, co-ordinating meetings, organising purchases and IT equipment, drafting correspondence and other executive support activities. Provide general support at functions/meetings as required by the mayor, including organising catering.
(This may include functions/meetings outside of normal working hours). Identify and implement service performance enhancements to maintain continuous improvement practices. About you To be successful in this role you will have the following: Qualification in a relevant discipline or substantial experience in an Executive Support or Administration leadership role. A strong understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Mayor and Councillors, and the application of the Local Government Act 2020 to the Mayor and Councillors. Previous leadership or staff management experience with proven abilities to build staff relationships to facilitate teamwork and achieve cooperative outcomes, with excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a customer centric attitude. Ability to provide and ensure the provision of high-quality administrative support to the Mayor, including effectively managing the diary of Mayor and Councillors.
