In this role, you will oversee various tasks related to the maintenance of unsealed and sealed roads, including patrol grading, gravel haulage, and roadside slashing.
You will also be responsible for undertaking construction works, which involves sourcing materials for road upgrades or reconstruction projects, coordinating machinery and labour, and managing outsourced projects when necessary.
Your responsibilities will include conducting inspections, ensuring quality standards, estimating costs, budgeting, and successfully closing out projects.
Additionally, you will supervise teams on a daily basis, ensuring that resources are available and tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
As a key liaison between the Council and its customers for both maintenance and construction works, this position plays an integral role in delivering high-quality infrastructure.
This opportunity is part of the Works and Infrastructure Branch and is based at the Red Cliffs Depot.
What you will bring
Ideally the successful applicant will have the following:
Diploma or Cert IV in civil engineering, construction operations, surveying, project or construction management.
Significant relevant experience in supervision of work teams in road construction and maintenance activities.
Significant relevant experience in the operation of road construction and maintenance equipment.
Significant relevant experience in the procurement, quoting and tendering of materials and plant.
A knowledge of cost estimation for maintenance activities and preparation of work programs.
Knowledge and experience in temporary traffic control signage in accordance with the Australian Standard AS1742 Part 3 – 2019.
Experience conducting construction surveying.
Hold a current satisfactory Police Check or willing to obtain one prior to employment.
Current HR Drivers Licence.
Salary and conditions
The position is classified within Band 6 of Council's Current Enterprise Agreement ranging from $93,027.02 to $101,094.02 per annum including maintenance allowance plus statutory superannuation.
