The Program: We are expanding our Navigator program! The Navigator Program is an intensive, targeted, education support service where Case Managers work in collaboration with schools, young people, families, and external stakeholders to find ways to achieve educational goals.
In 2023-24, 847 young people were supported to re-engage with their education through the Navigator program.

About the role: An opportunity to lead our brand new Navigator program. This is an innovative, research-informed Department of Education funded program that assists disengaged learners to re-connect back into education and learning.
This position leads the provision and management of the day-to-day delivery of high quality, flexible and accountable Navigator Service in Northern Melbourne to disengaged learners. The Team Leader will create a team environment that supports and supervises 8 staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for these learners to re-engage with mainstream education.
You will be working with a team supporting young people (12 - 17yrs) who have disconnected from school. You will ensure your staff help young people identify their skills, interests and aspirations and alleviate barriers to their participation in education alongside their parents/carers.
The skills you will use day to day: Supervise & develop all 8 staff within the team. Ensure appropriate client service information as part of the agency data collection system both for accountability purposes and to assist in planning and targeting service delivery according to identifiable needs. Liaise with staff from schools, government & non-government agencies on a range of issues relating to clients. Draw from a variety of appropriate frameworks and theoretical approaches, working with children, families and/or significant others in relation to school engagement matters. Successfully build rapport with children and young people, who present with a range of complex challenges, and to work towards client goals together achieving successful outcomes. Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation and liaison skills and the ability to work with government and non-government organisations, community groups and clients' families/networks. Knowledge of school environments and educational policy. Make it work: Inspiring leadership supporting individual agency and autonomy. A salary at SCHADS level 7.2 which equates to $117,473 plus super. Positions to commence December 2024/January 2025 by negotiation. Ongoing position.
