Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions Pty Ltd (RNM), a joint venture between Rheinmetall Waffe Munitions and NIOA Pty Ltd, has established a state-of-the-art forging and manufacturing facility in Maryborough QLD that produces artillery shell cases and other munitions-related products for supply to the defence industry.
What are we looking for?
The Team Leader will support the Production Manager to ensure all area leadership responsibilities are met, with a particular focus on the production line performing to the required standard every shift. This includes leadership, training, and support for team members; continuous improvement and technical expertise for operational troubleshooting and maintenance.

Key Accountabilities
Supports the Production Manager to develop and maintain the operational systems and processes for the area. Lead your shift with hour-by-hour matters relating to people, safety, quality, cost, output ensuring compliance with company processes and procedures. Proactively lead your team/shift in a way that builds and maintains positive and safe working relationships aligned to the values including promoting the health & wellbeing of team members, collaboration, and safety consultation. Retain current knowledge of company procedures, rules etc. to identify and implement shift/area processes and work instructions then monitor for effectiveness. Coaches and corrects team members to ensure compliance with all company processes and legislation. For any contractors or visitors, ensures company safety processes are met including adequate supervision. Escalate relevant safety matters to your leader and WHSE Specialist. In collaboration with the Production Manager, delivers team talks ensuring consistent and aligned delivery to team members for positive engagement with the team as well as seamless shift handover. Identify, create, and maintain work instructions and competency assessments for the area in collaboration with the Production Manager. Support the senior operators with troubleshooting and operational matters within level of competency. Maintain competency of operations for supervision, training, and relief work if required. Co-ordinate support for the area to resolve advanced operational and technical issues, particularly for the highly skilled work areas and continually share and upskill team members on manufacturing processes. Lead your team in a way that builds and maintains positive and safe working relationships aligned to the company mission and values. Monitors process flow and undertakes various checks to ensure process is being executed as per company standards as detailed in work instructions. Leads or assists in coordinating problem-solving activities applying appropriate analysis or problem-solving tools with other technical, maintenance and process staff to investigate issues unable to be resolved by other team members. Collaborate with the Maintenance team to ensure that breakdowns impacting production are responded to and resolved safely and efficiently to a high-quality standard and ensure preventative maintenance is scheduled and coordinated for the efficient operation of plant whilst accommodating all asset care requirements. Ensure the team completes all machine pre-start checks and operator-level maintenance as per schedule and implements the 5S principles of general housekeeping. Supports the Production Manager to execute various project, process improvement, and leadership activities with your work team in a highly supportive and encouraging manner for successful outcomes. Whilst predominantly working with automated systems, may be asked to rotate work, assist and support other work areas at the direction of the Production Manager for the efficient operation of the plant. Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:
Mechanical trade or manufacturing certification OR intermediate to advanced manufacturing experience with semi-automated/automated processes. Demonstrated leadership experience and/or leader qualifications. Demonstrated strengths in all forms of mechanical problem-solving. Basic knowledge of engineering materials and heat treatment. Proficient in the use of MS Office software. Language Skills - English – verbal and written - satisfactory to above average. Additional Requirements
Fit to work in a munitions manufacturing environment and perform the inherent requirements of this role including but not exhaustive of manual handling, manufacturing processes, moving machinery, traffic management, elevated noise levels, work at heights, electric and magnetic fields, heat treatment, CNC, surface treatment/chemical use, interaction with personnel, automation, computers & electronic devices, varied work with competing priorities and timeframes.
