About the Role: As the Team Leader (First Nations Engagement), you will ensure that the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are considered in resource planning. Key responsibilities include conducting research, providing policy advice, and contributing to reports, presentations, and other communication materials.
Collaboration is essential, as the role requires working closely with colleagues, government, and industry to achieve policy objectives while managing competing priorities. Additionally, mentoring the team, maintaining high document quality, and handling sensitive information are critical. Occasional travel, including outside of office hours and overnight stays, may be required, along with other duties as needed.
About You Our ideal candidate must demonstrate:
Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to research, problem solve, prioritise, multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.Makes well-informed decisions through data analysis and supports others in identifying key information.Demonstrated experience and ability to work and liaise with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and organisations; facilitate their involvement in consultations, research, and project activities.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with the demonstrated ability to engage effectively with staff, communities, and stakeholders.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.Key Accountabilities Conduct research and analysis to help develop policies and strategies for managing the state's resources.Contribute to the preparation of reports, submissions, briefing notes, presentations, and other written materials.Provide timely advice on policy and regulatory issues, suggesting improvements for sustainable outcomes.Assist in creating communication materials, such as information sheets and PowerPoint presentations, to support communication strategies.Build and maintain effective partnerships by collaborating with colleagues, government, industry, and non-government organisations to achieve policy goals.Represent the department in meetings, committees, and working groups as needed.Manage competing priorities with good judgment and ensure work is completed on time.Ensure all documents are accurate, error-free, and consistent by reviewing, editing, and proof-reading.Work within a sensitive, confidential environment, considering commercial and legal impacts when making decisions.Lead, mentor, and train staff to build their skills and ensure high-quality service delivery.Perform other tasks as required.Diversity and Eligibility Valuing diversity, this recruitment is targeted to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples under section 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, supporting workplace diversity for the benefit of all Queenslanders.
