Team Leader, First Line Operational RiskJob requisition ID: 44646Location: Melbourne, VIC, AUWorkplace Type: HybridCreate impact as a Team Leader, First Line Operational Risk.Your RoleAs a Team Lead, Operational Risk, you will be part of the first line risk team responsible for influencing the identification and assessment of business risks. Through the provision of your risk and business expertise, you will support our business in establishing efficient and effective management of operational risk in the Retail Insurance Australian Division.As a Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of five (5) Risk Consultants, supporting their professional development, guiding workflows, assessing the quality of risk insights and assurance provided to the business, and engaging with Executive Leaders and Managers to identify, manage, reduce, and report risks. This role supports improving our businesses risk culture and risk maturity, by demonstrating sound stakeholder management, good written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to influence improvements in risk and controls within IAG.Key responsibilities include:Proficient understanding of an organisation's Risk Management Strategy and Risk Frameworks, and how these are applied at a business unit level to increase risk maturity and risk culture.Identifying and reporting on key insights arising from daily risk management activities, enabling action plans to be established in support of improving business decision making.Coordinating and identifying whether the design and execution of controls are adequate and effective in managing risks and obligations, including identification and supporting the remediation of any control weaknesses or gaps.Coordinating and ensuring risk profiles and control test outcomes are regularly updated in the relevant risk systems.Providing risk event management oversight and supporting business owners in responding to investigations, conducting root cause analysis, and rating risk events to enable escalations in accordance with risk management standards.This is a permanent role open to candidates anywhere in Australia.About YouThe successful candidate will have:Prior extensive experience in first line risk management (ideally within general insurance or personal injury claims management) - desired.Experience in the general insurance or financial services industry, and/or exposure to risk management leadership roles - essential.Proven knowledge and experience in risk identification and management.Strong stakeholder management both externally and internally.Understanding of the Financial Services Regulatory landscape, including Risk, Legal & Compliance, and regulatory issues.A strategic mindset and great communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to oversee and govern a broad spectrum of key product, customer, and market-related risks.Relevant industry or specialism qualifications e.g., ANZIIF, AS/NZSISO 31000:2009 (Risk management - principles and guidelines) - preferred.Applications close on Thursday, 28 November at 11:59pm AEST.What We Offer:5 myLeave days per year on top of annual leave.Work from home and many more flexibility options with myFlex.Compassionate leave including Sorry Business, early pregnancy loss, and extended family bereavement.Dedicated career growth programs, including the award-winning IAG Academy.Great employee network communities.ABOUT USWe're part of the largest general insurance group in Australia and New Zealand.
