Create impact as a Team Leader, First Line Operational Risk Your Role
As a Team Lead, Operational Risk, you will be part of the first line risk team responsible for influencing the identification and assessment of business risks, and through the provision of your risk and business expertise, support our business establish efficient and effective management of operational risk in the Retail Insurance Australian Division.
As a Team Lead you will be responsible for leading a team of five (5) Risk Consultants, supporting their professional development, guiding workflows, assessing the quality of risk insights and assurance provided to the business, and engaging with Executive Leaders and Managers to identify, manage, reduce, and report risks.
This role supports improving our businesses risk culture and risk maturity, by demonstrating sound stakeholder management, good written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to influence improvements in risk and controls within IAG.
Key responsibilities include: Proficient understanding or an organisations Risk Management Strategy, Risk Frameworks, and how these are applied at a business unit level to increase risk maturity & risk cultureIdentifies and reports on key insights arising from daily risk management activities, which enable action plans to be established in support of improving our business decision makingCo-ordinates and identifies whether the design and execution of controls are adequate and effective in managing risks and obligations, including identification and supporting the remediation of any control weaknesses or gapsCo-ordinates and ensures risk profiles & control test outcomes are regularly updated in the relevant risk systemsProvides risk event management oversight and supports business owners respond to investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and rate risk events to enable escalations in accordance with risk management standardsThis is a permanent role open to candidates anywhere in Australia.
About You The successful candidate will have:
Prior extensive experience in first line risk management (ideally within general insurance or personal injury claims management) - desiredExperience in general insurance or financial services industry, and/or exposure to risk management leadership roles - essentialProven knowledge and experience in risk identification and managementStrong stakeholder management both externally and internallyUnderstanding of Financial Services Regulatory landscape, including Risk, Legal & Compliance, and regulatory issues.Having a strategic mindset and great communication skills both verbal and writtenAbility to oversee and govern a broad spectrum of key product, customer and market related risksRelevant industry or specialism qualifications e.g.
: ANZIIF, AS/NZSISO 31000:2009 (Risk management - principles and guidelines) - preferredApplications close on Thursday, 28 November at 11:59pm AEST.
