Team Leader Covert Analysis and Assurance (CAA) The mission of the Australian Federal Police is to provide dynamic and effective law enforcement to the people of Australia. It provides policing throughout Australia in relation to the prevention and detection of crimes against the Commonwealth, its laws and integrity, and community police services to the Community of the ACT.

Covert Analysis and Assurance supports AFP operations and strategic outcomes through the provision of a range of compliance, governance and administrative activities to ensure continued confidence in the AFP's use of covert powers. These powers are enabled through the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (Cth), Telecommunications Act 1997 (Cth), Surveillance Devices Act 2004 (Cth) and the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth).
Team Leader Covert Analysis and Assurance (CAA) plays a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that Team Leaders CAA deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
What will you do? Mentoring and developing members to enable mastery, teamwork and purpose in the performance of their functions; Driving innovation and promoting continuous improvement through effective change management; Prioritising and ensuring that the team delivers on agreed outcomes; Developing strategies to appropriately identify, balance and work within the AFP risk framework; Working with the Executive and broader leadership to deliver enterprise effect; Providing subject matter expertise knowledge and sound advice to Executive and Investigators on matters related to statutory compliance and Commonwealth Legislation; Provide valued input on the business area's strategic vision that supports the AFP's strategic direction; Demonstrated strong leadership during periods of change; Supporting external agencies during statutory compliance inspections; Business area representation with internal and external stakeholders. Minimum Requirements: You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application; A security clearance of Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) or the ability to obtain; Strong attention to detail and alignment with process; Ability to lead teams including remote workers; High level communication skills; Experience in compliance and audit management; Experience in developing and implementing governance and policy; Working knowledge of relevant Commonwealth legislation. Additional Information This position is an AFP Band Level 7; This role is located in Canberra, however, remote working options from another AFP office may be negotiated. Proof of a minimum of two COVID-19 vaccinations (or one dose if the Janssen vaccine was used) will be required if an offer of employment is made.
