Full time Band 6 position at the City of Ballarat On call availability required Some out of hours work required The Team Leader role requires experience in court prosecution for the following pieces of legislation: Domestic Animals Act 1994, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986, Impounding Livestock Act 1994, and Council's Local Laws.
This role works closely with and provides support and assistance to the Ballarat Animal Shelter and Coordinator Animal Services.
As Team Leader, you will be responsible for the implementation of SOPs, Council processes, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
You will also be required to manage escalations from the community and coordinate warrant and seizure processes.
You enjoy working autonomously and within a team, and you will be comfortable leading a complex team dealing with highly emotive situations.
Animal welfare and responsible pet ownership will be a priority for you, and providing a safe community while fostering community connections will be important.
Making decisions to foster community safety and animal welfare outcomes, you enjoy providing a high standard of customer service, keeping detailed records, following processes, and have demonstrated experience in conflict resolution and negotiation.
Key Selection Criteria: Demonstrated experience in animal handling, including the ability to impound stock and follow procedures effectively. Good knowledge and skills in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Office and database packages. Sound communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills. Time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks. Current driver's licence, including the ability to handle trailers, floats, and stock crates.
