Teaching Principal Level TP1 - St George Hospital SchoolNSW Department of Education – St George NSWSt George Hospital School is a school for Specific Purposes (SSP) located in the Children's Ward of St George Hospital. The school caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 12 who have been admitted to St George Hospital. The students are an extremely diverse group, coming from a range of cultural backgrounds and all sectors of schooling. While the school is situated in the Children's Ward, it also caters for older students who may be admitted into other wards. St George Hospital School also offers an Outpatient Program for students referred by the Hurstville Child & Adolescent Mental Health Unit (CAMHS) or local public schools who have experienced extended periods of school disengagement. This program is designed to cater to the holistic needs of the student through the provision of quality teaching and learning and promote a successful return to school. On a daily basis, the school works closely with the student's census school, parents/carers, medical staff, therapy teams and social workers to provide high quality care and individualised education.Position InformationThe role involves leading the school in its mission to provide quality education and support to students in a hospital setting.Selection CriteriaIn addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.A highly visible and approachable leader who builds positive, authentic partnerships with all students, families, staff and allied health professionals to promote the continuity of learning for students with wide and varied learning, wellbeing and health needs.Proven capacity to lead the implementation of the Strategic Improvement Plan, with a focus on reflective, evidence informed, evaluative practices to build the capabilities of all staff and improve the learning and wellbeing outcomes for all students.Demonstrated strength in leading improvement, innovation and change focused on the continuity of student learning for students attending St George Hospital or its Outreach program.High level educational leadership with the ability to teach across the curriculum with expertise in managing multi-stage classrooms.General Selection CriteriaHigh level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education.Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs.High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community.Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning.Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning.Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
